Teen Track

Deacon Ralph Poyo - Evangelistpoyo
Ralph Poyo’s is an evangelist from Steubenville, Ohio who’s methods of evangelization model the personal, one-on-one style of Our Lord; Jesus preached to the multitude, but focused even more time and energy on “the Twelve,” preparing them to spearhead the ministry of evangelization after His passing.  Ralph has experienced how God seeks to transform us at the very core of our being.

 

 

Russell Hoyt

Russell claims to be the happiest man alive. After getting his hoytbachelor’s in Cathechetics and Theology with a concentration in Youth Ministry from Franciscan University, he married the woman of his dreams and they now have a beautiful daughter. He works as the Director of Youth and Young Adult ministries for a parish in Raleigh, where he has the privilege of sharing the Good News of Christ and his Church with Junior High and High school students. He spends most of his downtime putting together complicated, multi-pieces toys for his daughter and is a Pro at Wii Ping pong.

 

 

Adult Track

Patrick Madrid - Friday Evening

Patrick Madrid is the publisher of Envoy Magazine, a journal madridof contemporary Catholic thought, and the director of the Envoy Institute of Belmont Abbey College. Patrick is the author or editor of 15 books and booklets on Catholic themes including, Pope Fiction, Search and Rescue, Does the Bible Really Say That?, 150 Bible Verses Every Catholic Should Know,and The Godless Delusion: A Catholic Challenge to Modern Atheism. He has published numerous popular articles on Scripture, Church history, patristics, apologetics, and evangelization in various Catholic and Protestant periodicals, and he has contributed scholarly articles on apologetics in the New Catholic Encyclopedia. CampbellColleen Carroll Campbell - “Feeding a New Generation: Young Adults and the Hunger for Truth” - 12:30 pm Saturday

Colleen Carroll Campbell is an author, television and radio host, op-ed columnist and former presidential speechwriter. Since 2006, Campbell has hosted her own international television and radio show, "Faith & Culture." She writes a weekly op-ed column for the St. Louis Post-Dispatch, blogs on religion and politics for The New York Times and The Washington Post, and has made more than 200 appearances on television and radio shows. Dr. William Thierfelder - “Sports at the Service of the Spirit” 1:30 pm Saturdaythierfelder

Dr. Thierfelder is currently President of Belmont Abbey College in Belmont, NC.  He is a former Division I coach, Olympian, national champion in the high jump and a two-time All-American from the University of Maryland. Dr. Thierfelder currently serves on the Vatican’s International Seminar of Study on “The Christian Mission within the Field of Sport Today.”  This committee seeks to determine ways that the Catholic Church can “foster an authentic culture of sport in harmony with the dignity of the human person.” Dr. Thierfelder's Web Page.

Dr. Ray Guarendi is a father, clinical psychologist, author, public speaker and radio host. Dynamic, innovative, unforgettable and humorous, he reaches people personally and helps adults get a better handle on the critical role of a parent as a teacher of children. Dr. Guarendi's Web page.

St. Mark Youth Ministry strives to help the parish become a "Church for young people, which will know how to speak to their heart and enkindle, comfort, and inspire enthusiasm in it with the joy of the Gospel and the strength of the Eucharist; a Church which will know how to invite and to welcome the person who seeks a purpose for which to commit his whole existence; a Church which is not afraid to require much, after having given much; which does not fear asking from young people the effort of a noble and authentic adventure, such as that of the following of the Gospel"

Help Out As An Altar Server, Usher, Lector & Extraordinary Minister of Holy Communion!

High School Teens help out with the following Liturgical Ministries at the 5:00 p.m. Mass here at St. Mark. This is a rewarding ministry, and teens who participate have experienced not only a growth in their own faith life, but have helped others to enter more deeply into the Mass!

We need:

  • Altar Servers
  • Ushers
  • Lectors
  • Extraordinary Minister of Holy Communion (you can get trained when you are 15, but cannot start until you are 16 years old)
