LIFE TEEN has a bunch of great adults who are dedicated to reaching out to high school teens.  We are always looking for more adults to help.  If you are interested in helping to transform the lives of teens, or if you know of someone in the parish who would be a great person in this role, please contact Life Teen Coordinator Tim Flynn!

LIFE TEEN CORE TEAM:  Comprised of parish adults who have a desire to share their faith with high school teenagers. Giving from 4 to 8 hours a week, the Core Team works with teens at our weekly 5:00 p.m. Mass, which is geared toward teens, plans and runs the Life Nights to form them in the faith, and in relevant moral issues, provides retreat experiences, and reaches out to the teens outside of Mass and Life Nights. A Core Team Member helps the parish reach out to teens and lead them closer to Christ and the Church.

CATHOLIC ATHLETES FOR CHRIST CORE TEAM:  Also comprised of parish adults desiring to share the faith with teens, particularly as it applies to being a Catholic Athlete, the CAC Core Team reaches out to the teens on a twice a month basis, helping to plan and run the CAC meetings for teens.  Commitment to this is about 3-5 hours twice a month on Wednesdays.

MEAL MINISTRY TEAM: Both Sunday Life Nights and Wednesday CAC Nights provide dinner for the teens.  We have two great Meal Coordinators, and they are always looking for help from parents and other adults to either provide grocery cards or hands-on support preparing, serving and cleaning up.

TRIP LEADERS: We run several different trips throughout the year, either day trips or weekend retreats, or week-long camps and missions.  We often need additional adults to help out with these, either to participate as an adult leader and chaperone, or simply to help with transportation. 

SPONSORSHIP:  We have many teens who for financial reasons are unable to participate in some of the amazing retreats, conferences and trips we have for high schoolers.  We are always looking for help so that we can sponsor those teens who would otherwise be unable to participate.  If you are interested in sponsoring teen(s) for one of our retreats or conferences, please don’t hesitate to contact us.

SERVICE:  We are looking for help in the following areas.  Please contact us if you are interested in any of these.

§       Service Coordinator:  We are looking for someone interested in coordinating service opportunities for high school teens in our parish.

  • Able to commit to volunteering 3-5 hours a week
  • Work with Life Teen Coordinator in seeking out and implementing service opportunities for teens

§       Olde Knox Commons Bingo w/ the Elderly: Tuesdays, 3:15-4:5 p.m.  If you are interested in being an adult presence with the teens, it would be a great way to provide them with an opportunity to serve.

§       Operation Sandwich:  1^st Wednesdays monthly, we prepare 800 peanut butter and jelly sandwiches for Urban Ministries.  We are looking for adults who can help oversee this and provide an adult presence.

§       Talent Show Fundraiser Dinner:  Saturday, January 14, 2012, we are having a fundraiser talent show and dinner, and we are looking for help in many areas!

o      Silent Auction:  We need someone willing to contact various parish groups about sponsoring or putting together a gift basket for the Silent Auction. We’d like to have around 10 gift baskets.

    • Tickets sold at door that can be dropped into various gift baskets for a chance to win
    • Higher End Items that are bid on by folks
  • Auditions/Rehearsals/Show:  The goal is to identify a good number of the acts before opening it up for auditions.  If you know of anyone who is truly talented in some manner that might be good for this show, please let me know.   I would like to have all the acts signed up by the end of October at the latest.
  • Publicity (Local papers, Catholic Herald, Signs):  Contact local papers ahead of time, handle advertising for event, photography and post event contacting of papers, putting together signs for publicity.
  • Tickets:  Handle tickets sales at door and pre-sales. We have coordinator, but she could use help
  • Talent Show:
    • MC – all set
    • Acts (We are looking at a total of 10 acts)
  • Food Coordinator:  We have a coordinator, but she is looking for help.
  • Volunteers: Getting teens and others lined up to help with the various duties
  • Environment:  Setup, Stage, Lighting, Decorations, Cleanup
